ABOUT / THE AUTHOR
ABOUT
Katie Bagli is one of Mumbai's best loved children's authors, an avid nature lover, and a storyteller who turns forests, oceans, insects, birds, and tree canopies into living classrooms.
Katie loves to go for walks out in the wild, where she becomes a nature detective: looking under leaves and stones for creepy crawlies, and up at tree canopies for birds and squirrels. Mountains, forests, and oceans fascinate her, and there is usually a story forming in her mind, especially when she walks her dog Chloe.
She has published articles in Sanctuary Cub, Highlight Champs, Saevus, The Children's Magazine, and contributes nature writing to the children's section, Young World of The Hindu. She also writes a monthly nature column for RobinAge.
Her commissioned conservation writing includes Many Secrets of Mangroves for Godrej and Boyce, and work for The Corbett Foundation, the Mangroves Foundation of India, and the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change.
Katie is part of Save Rani Bagh Foundation and helps organize the children's section of 100 Thousand Poets for Change, where the children's play is written, directed, and produced by her. She has also conducted a Literacy Day session for differently abled children on invitation from the Andhra Pradesh Government.
She is Jane Goodall Institute India (JGII) Education Director, reaching schools and encouraging youth projects for people, animals, and the environment. She also creates environment education content and scripts for NCERT-aligned e-modules for grades 7, 8, and 9.
When she is not writing, Katie leads tree walks, nature trails, creative nature writing workshops, poetry writing sessions, doodling and comic-strip activities, nature clubs, and wildlife quizzes.
